Start by checking for DTC / Trouble Codes

The Check Engine Lamp Diagnostics will not indicate the existence of historic trouble codes- only current

trouble codes are transmitted.

Use of check engine lamp diagnostics assumes that the SCANALYZER (Part No. HD-41325) is not available.

1. To activate the diagnostic feature of the Check Engine Lamp, proceed as follows:

a. Turn the Ignition/Light Key Switch to IGNITION for three seconds (one second pause after the fuel pump

stops running), and then turn switch back to the OFF (FLHTC/U-I, FLTR-I) or LOCK (FLHR/C-I)

position for three seconds.

b. Repeat the instructions under step 1a. above.

c. Turn the Ignition/Light Key Switch to IGNITION and wait approximately eight seconds for the Check

Engine Lamp to start flashing.

2. All trouble codes are sent out as a series of flashes.

The crank position sensor reads the notches on the flywheel and is "looking" for speed of the flywheel and the empty spots for ignition, if the CPS doesn't "see" the information it won't send a signal to the ECM or spark to go to the ignition. If the CPS is bad, then nothing will happen. I don't have the procedure to test (ohm out) the sensor, but this would be my first look see.

Finally sorted through the check engine light operation and found FC 41 constant, Just wondering if it is located between the 2 cyl's (dumb question)

No, it's on the front of the crankcase, just to the left of the oil filter. The wiring runs under the frame to a connector near the right frame tube under the engine.
