Default Odometer LCD screen becoming unreadable.

I have a 1999 Dyna Low Ryder and the odometer LCD screen is becoming unreadable so I bought a new after market speedometer from Drag Specialties and the first thing I noticed on my first ride after installing it was that my self cancelling turn signals didn't self cancel anymore. So I put the old speedo back in just to be sure that was the problem. Sure enough, that fixed it. Now I have a $200 paper weight that I can't use. While it was nice to be able to see the odometer, I did not like that I was driving around giving people the confusing messages by leaving my turn signals on all the time. Any ideas how I can fix both problems? I need a readable odometer but I also need the turn signals to work.

I believe Drag Specialties makes a Turn Signal Canceler for non-OEM speedometers?

Jeez! This is the first bike I have owned with self canceling turn signals. I keep turning them back on after the turn is completed, and still go for the left one to make a right turn...
