Default A fat boy on a Fat Boy

Yeah, I don’t know what happened, but I was at my dealer the other day drooling over the new Fat Boy (always was the only Softail I liked). The sales manager who I bought three bikes from started talking (he loves and wants my FXR) and started in on me on a 18 leftover they had. But if I was to consider it, I only wanted the 2019 midnight blue 114 next to it.

I’ll be honest, I have been seriously considering getting rid of a bike or two lately, as no normal human being needs three bikes. I am never on my Road Glide. A great bike but I never ride it. The 5800 miles over two years goes to show it. That, and I’m not riding my Low Rider since getting my FXR. So I got a very good trade in number for the RGS, sold the LRS to a friend of a friend, and made a great deal on my new 2019 Fat Boy.

I expect a few “see ya, don’t let the door hit you on the ***” and “traitor” comments, which are probably justified. But I gotta say, I love this bike. Even bone stock it pulls way harder then my LRS did. I was a bit apprehensive reading reviews saying it was hard to handle at slow and twisty speeds, but I do not find that at all. Yes, it’s a big, heavy bike (though only about 30 somthing pounds more then the Dyna - hell, I can add 30 lbs to the bike after a big meal!) But I don’t find that at all. It handles real nice. Amazingly, the suspension makes me not immediately need to install Ohlins everywhere. The frame is stiff and solid. And the motor just pours on the power.

Dealer didn’t have the obligatory SE Street Cannons in stock, so I gotta live with the ridiculously quiet pipes for a few days, but they are on order. Did get a useless street tuner, but I’m going to live with EPA/warranty requirements for a year or so until any major motor issues reveal themselves if there. Then all bets are off and I’ll get a proper pipe, tuner and Dyno tune. Though as I said, it’s faster then any HD i’ve ridden so I’m good for now.

I still have my FXR which entitles me to stay on the forum and I will exercise that right, since the Softail forum is pretty light on participation, also seems like they are a bit less technical then many here... Oh well.

So here she is:

Yes, I know the reflectors have to go!

So now I really am a fat boy on a Fat Boy...

Beautiful bike! I've never really considered any fat boys but I remember walking in the dealer last year when the new one showed up and stopping and thinking wow, i would buy that. Same story with the new heritage, never liked them at all but the new ones really look great

Congrats. I really like the Fatboy, it doesn't need anything for a smooth ride.

Fat boy is awesome. I rode one when they first came out last year. Loved the motor, and handling. Like you said, feels fine at any speed.Hoping they do a Lo version
of it down the road. If they do, I"ll be buying one.

Lovely lookin bike. Had a 2015 Lo before I got my LRS.
Had to let the Fatboy go as handling and stopping was non existent.
Not for me, but still like the look of them though.
Enjoy yours and hope you don’t regret your choice. Reckon that FXR will be getting a good blast more often than not.
