Handle bar help
im not sure if I want to go with mini apes or drag bars for my FXDL.
there are so many options out there some are junk and some are good. But I have no clue on what’s what nor do I have a bunch of money or time to sample.
Can I get some recommendations on what bars to go with?
i was also considering the lucky13 bars 11”
thanks in advance

Wow, those two choices are WORLDS apart.
Why not just say you want a change and don't know what you want instead?
I feel your pain, Good bars aren't cheap. You have to figure out if you want external or internal wiring.
You have to figure out if your capable of the install or pay someone else.
(pro-shop rate for install, internal wiring w/extensions is around $400)
I wanted to change my bars too, I wanted a more comfortable riding position, ease of control and looks for the bike.
I spent about a year looking and searching for what I wanted before I made a purchase.
Go to or participate in a few local charity runs. It's a great place to see 50 to 100 bikes or more all at one time. You can walk down the street and look at different bars on different bikes. If you see something you like hang around the bike and talk to the owner.
Around here it seems like a full 40% of the Harleys are running factory mini-apes,, I decided right then I didn't want mini-apes.

We can't tell you what fits you. A lot of it is opinion, personal preference, looks, riding style and comfort. John has the best advice, look at a lot of bikes in person and try to narrow it down.
It's not always easy and even after a change you could find that it might not be what you wanted after all. I must have gone through 8 or 9 combinations of bars and risers until I found what worked for me. If you can do the work yourself, and for the most part it's pretty easy, you can cut your costs a lot.
