FXR performance possibilites vs newer Dyna

What makes an FXR an FXR is the frame. It is super rigid (much more so than your Dyna), and with a few tweaks you can modernize an FXR (suspension wise and engine/tranny wise) to eat most any Dyna alive. Case in point: your 07 twinkie Dyna has got nothing on the FXR pictured below. It doesn't have a huge engine (89" stroker), but it does have decent suspension components, a Baker tranny, and it is probably close to 75 to 100lbs lighter than your Dyna. At about 100HP/100Torque, your 07 and later Dynas won't be stomping this lightweight and quick FXR in the canyons or on the freeway.

You have a FXDLS with 110" SE motor? And your bro's SS 111" is faster? A lot faster? low,mid or top end? Or all the above? I am debating a 111" in an FXR now. I have a FXDLS with 117 kit and it screams. Hard to believe the 111" in FXR is faster than that...so very curious!

100% agree. Night and day difference in handling between FXR and Dyna. If you want a canyon carver, get an FXR and fine-tune the suspension first. On a Dyna, it’s more like a suspension overhaul, and it still won’t be as good as an FXR. (Speaking from experience, ‘85 FXRT vs ‘13 FXDWG.)

I have a hard time believing this rings true when talking about my 117" LowRider S outfited with Legend front and rear suspension, 2-1 bassani, intake, cams, ported throttle body, bigger injectors, pushrods, and powervision dyno tune 120hp/126 tq. I just got a '93 FXRS thats in mint condition from my friend's dad I plan to build. Going to do suspension first and thinking about a S&S 111" and Baker 6 spd. Everybody says that will blow away my SE 117 build which is crazy to me because its a complete monster.

FWIW, I was told by the lead fabricator at AlloyArt that their Dyna Combi Stabilizer makes a Dyna handle like a FXR. After experiencing the change their touring stabilizer did to my Street Glide, I believe him.
