Lowrider clanking noise
I have a 2005 Dyna Lowrider with about 20k miles. When I ride 2 up, I get a sporadic clanking sound if I am more-or-less maintaining a constant speed at around 3500 RPM (between 3500-4000 anyways). This has been going on for awhile, but it has taken me awhile to figure out when it occurs, so that I can attempt to diagnose it. It does not make the noise when just I am on the bike, only 2 up. Also, it does not make the noise if I am accelerating hard, only if I am maintaining a constant or near-constant speed. I have never heard the sound if the engine is at 3000 RPM or under.
It is not super loud, but I can definitely hear it. It is only one, or a coupe clanks, then it is gone. Although, I have found if I maintain a constant speed at the right RPM the clank will keep occurring. It sounds like it is coming from the left side and slightly behind me, I believe it is the primary, but a cannot be positive.
I am going out of town for a couple weeks but when I get back I plan on opening the primary up to see if I can find the cause of this clanking noise. Any ideas on what it might be?
