Cool Enricher

I'm having a problem with my 2003 Wide Glide enricher control. It was about 79 degrees yesterday when I started it up. I pulled the enricher out full but it kept getting drawn back in almost to stalling. I had to manually hold it out for a couple of minutes before it would keep running. Any ideas?

There is a hex nut (or was it knurled?) on the bracket that you tighten to increase the resistance. It shouldn't take much. I can't remember for sure which side of the bracket as I have run the Mikuni enrichener cable and a custom bracket for years now.

if its a CV carb oem cable, the **** is outside the bracket and can be finger tightened. It’s the first thing you can grab past the **** itself.

Please... Finger tighten and only "Just Enough" Tension on the Pull Shaft ... or you'll have "Cracked Plastic"

.

The nut is a hex 17mm...

From an older post (11-09-2012):

Here's the trick:
By applying the tape to the cone, the cone's diameter enlarges. As a result of this, the knurled plastic nut puts more pressure to the cone and when pulled, the choke **** will stay out....

Step 1:
Loosen 17 mm hex nut
Loosen knurled plastic nut
Pull out choke **** and secure with spreader tool (made out of a metal wire hanger)

Step 2:
Apply a 5 X 12 mm strip of electrical tape to the cone

Step 3:
Fasten the knurled plastic nut

Step 4:
Remove excess tape using a breakable hobby knife

Step 5:

Position the cable assembly in slot in bracket (star washer at nut side of the bracket) and tighten the 17 mm hex nut using an open wrench

After seeing FXD2003Rider Pics, my memory was refreshed ... that Nut on the back side is the one you have to be more careful with. People put a wrench on that and put to much torque (which isn't much to be too much for Plastic) and break the #3 in two... "No Bueno". Still be careful with "Tension nut"

You won't probably messing with that Nut on this Tension job, but just keep it in mind if you have to ever loosen that nut.
