What year bike?

I did the switch on my 99 FXD. Just pull the old one off and bolt the new one on. Of course you have to change the dash too.

Here is a link to my before and after pics.

She'snot in pain,LOL. Its the opposite, Its much happier like that I had some free time over the winter and bought the bike to make a chopper and thats what I made in 3 weeks . Its not for everyone , But I love it and a few others seem to like it as well. My passangers all like the ride, being its not as hard as stock.I like riding 2 up but wanted a different look.

Big Scooter,
I'm in the final phase of the switching tanks. I've got the tank on dash on but nothing's wired yet. I'm still using the FXD speedo set-up. How did you do the wiring? Did you plug into the 12 pin connector under the brow? I didn't want to just cut the wires. I was hoping to "replug" a mini harness from the plug under the brow to the speedo and the idiot lites (LED). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks - George

George, what I did was just pull the pins from the plug. I then bought the plug hardware for the wide glide dash from the stealer. (One for the idiot lights and one for the speedo)

Pretty easy really. You will need a wiring schematic to show you where to put the wires into the wide glide plugs.

Also, I think J&P makes hardware to allow you to use your stock FXD speedo if you would rather use that. Then you can just keep your harness and hide it in the brow. Just give them a call and tell them what you want to do if you choose this route.

I chose to just wire up the FXDWG speedo.

Good luck and if you need any help just pm me.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have the manual and lucky enuf to have the plug to the wideglide speedo with about 5 inches of the harness still intact in the plug. So following your advice I'll just pin in the other side to match the stock plug under the brow (looks like it should have enuf slack to go under the console. Yeah I looked at that ring adapter from JP but it reads like you have to glue it to the console ( I didnt like that). I went for the stock led set-up so hopefully it will all work out. Just no in the mode to take my bike off the road.

The local stealer doesnt have the 12 pin or he 8 pin (idiot lites) plugs in stock. So I'll have to wait...

Thanks again.
