Dyna EFI Tuner and Stage 1 Kit
Hi All!
I recently picked up an '05 Dyna Super Glide EFI FXDXI, and managed to keep from tinkering with it for a few months. However, I can't take it anymore - I'm interested in upgrading to a performance air intake and possibly an EFI tuner.
I'm interested in hearing if anyone has a specific performance intake recommendations, and also would like to know if anyone has a specific EFI tuner they would recommend.
I've rebuilt a few carburetors (Mikunis) and am familiar with the mechanical process of supplying the engine with the proper fuel air mixture, but have never gotten involved in fuel injection. Any advice would be appreciated!

I purchased a PV1 for my 06 Super Glide FXDI35, I too have worked with carbs but no experience with EFI , so I purchased a Dynojet PV1. Really a cool tuner....way over my head but I'll learn. They load in about 10 tunes that you can load which is good but the Auto Tune is the way to go...it learns what's needed for or mods and style of riding. Now they are a little pricey but I figured it would be worth it in the long run. JMO

I decided to run with a K&N Aircharger intake (dug the look), and the Dynoget PowerVision PV-1 to start. Having the ability to create custom EFI maps, adjust on the fly, upgrade to autotune, and data log (I'm an engineer, and the ability to data log and analyze that data is about like crack to guys like me) ended up selling me on the product. Should have these products Monday or Tuesday, and am anxious to see what kind of difference they make to my bone stock set-up.
Thanks for all the help everyone who responded!

Here's what I did to my 05 FXDLI, there are no O2 sensors to deal with and control the ECM. I don't plan on any internal upgrades , so I installed A DFO (digital fuel optimizer), it plugs into the injectors and injector plugs into those plugs. It has 4 adjustable potentiometers, check Techlusion. This unit will help bring down the heat off the engine by making the mixtures as rich as you want.

So I'm just saying even if you're only doing stage 1, if you think you'll have the bike for a while, it might be worth getting a more advanced tuner.

This is true, sort of. I had a FuelMoto Micro EFI on my XL1200 and it definitely solved my problems running lean, but I'm pretty sure it was running richer than needed afterward. I had FuelMoto adjust the maps a couple times, but it was a bit of guesswork. When I got the Dyna I was planning to get a PowerVision, but the Dyna already had a TTS MasterTune. This wouldn't have been something I'd purchase if given the choice, but it is very powerful. I get a couple more MPG now with the Dyna that I got with the Sporty.
So I'm just saying even if you're only doing stage 1, if you think you'll have the bike for a while, it might be worth getting a more advanced tuner.

As stated, if you plan to progress past stage1 to 2,3,4, insane... then, yes by all means buy a tuner that will take you to the end game. Also consider what tuner any local dyno shop is familiar with... that 'could' be a huge advantage.
