Default Adjusting pushrods

i have a 17 lrs with a se 117, my previous lifters were smoked, so I upgraded to s&s premiums with travel lifters, and se adjustable pushrods. When I adjust the rear cylinders pushrods, I can turn 10 flats before it starts to open the valves, but the front cylinder I can only turn the pushrods 7 flats.

I double checked the intake/exhaust pushrods and I’m on tdc compression stroke, but not quite sure how many flats to adjust them now. This is my first experience with adjustable pushrods but I’ve done pretty much everything else. Thanks for any input/advice.

The amount of flats you can turn before the valve starts to open depends on the amount of fluid inside the lifter, if the lifter is empty you will start to lift the valve once the spring bottoms out, while if the lifter have some fluid, it will push the spring down slowly while the lifter bleeds down, even with that, you shouldn't adjust the pushrods that way, the correct way to adjust them is to get some up and down slack in the pushrod, adjust until it lightly seats on the lifter, at that point you shouldn't have any up and down movement, do it with your fingers so you will get the feel, from that point, count the flats to set the preload, lock it and that's all, if you have the travel limit S&S lifters read their instructions since they are adjusted differently, but the starting point is the same, get the pushrod just seated and then do the adjustment procedure

Make sure you're on the base circle of the cam

I did read the instructions and I made sure I’m on the base circle (that’s what I meant by tdc on the compression stroke). There shouldn’t be any oil in the lifters because I adjusted the pushrods as much as I could to let the lifters bleed down as the instructions said. However according to the directions you’re supposed to adjust the pushrods til the plunger is completely depressed, then back them down til the plunger is about halfway through its travel. Im having a hard time doing this with the difference between the front and rear cylinder. I just don’t want to bend the valves. This has already been a real pain in the ***.

Acording to that thread, no pun intended, the she push rods are 24tpi, and s&s are 32 tpi

and here gives you thevdeoth height your afterhttps://www.sscycle.com/tech-info/instructions-data/pushrod-adjustment

1st thread link gives you the math to figure out how many flats

24 tpi for the pushrods. I can’t find the length of plunger travel anywhere other than another post that says about .100. Dunno if that’s correct or not though

everything ive read says 2.5 turns for se pushrods without travel limiters, and 1.25 turns with travel limiters. Thing that bothers me is it’s supposed to be in the center of the plunger travel and on the front cylinder 1.25 turns has it almost bottomed out. I don’t understand why the rear pushrods will go 10 flats before bottoming out, and the fronts will only turn 7. Now I’m really overthinking this as I don’t want my valves to hit the piston

Look in the s&s link I posted. The 3rd step says .1252

but keep reading, then tells you to back them off so much etc.

The 7 and 10 flat thing, can you verify buy looking in the bores that you are indeed on the base circle of the cam on both cylinder's.

Next I'd find out s&s tolerances in their spacer's. Gonna have to do a little reverse measureing to say
