Dang drive belt broke!

Dang drive belt broke!
I took my 1998 Lowrider out yesterday for a ride. I probably rode about an hour. Anyways, I just entered my driveway....and the belt broke![:@]I knew the belt had a small rock in the center of it....but I was keeping my eye on it. At least I got lucky and it broke in my driveway. My last belt broke in the middle of nowhere in Canada.
$207 for the new belt from Harley.....[:@]. Expensive......oh well!
Inspect your belts from time to time.

sorry.......chains today are much different than that of yesteryear..........new O-Ring chains are much different as far as lubrication and adjustment goes...no mess and very infrequent adjustment..and besides.........belts are for washing machines.......chains are for motorbikes.........8>}

RE: Dang drive belt broke!
First let me make a short list regarding the benefits of a belt comprised of a high tech compound, rubber and Kevlar, the same stuff they make bulletproof vests with. Belts don’t need oil to keep them lubed up, they weigh less than a chain, can last up to 100 thousand miles before you need to replace them, and they take very little maintenance because they generally do not stretch.

Not trying to sell you a chain bro.......whatever your into.....know what I mean....just some casual observations on my part.........priced a belt replacement including labor at the shop lately (if you don't do your own work).....inner/outer primary removal at least including the inconvenience of it being at the shop who knows how long (if you don't do your own work)....ain't cheap.......... I have seen these supposely bullet-proof kelvar vest belts break way before 100k.........ever tried to get a belt fixed that broke while on the road alooong way from homewhen the dealership is closed.....I have converted several bikes over to chain from belt and each time these people have been very happy with their decision............gearing changes are much easily accomplished........but it all about whatever your into......
