2018 Street Bob or 2016 Dyna Street Bob?
Hey all. About to get my first Harley and am torn between a low-miles ‘16 FXDB or a ‘18 FXBB. For those who have experience with both, I’d love your opInion. I plan to cruise around town, cruise through canyons and commute on the freeway to work (30-mile commute). With the occasional road trip. I’d also like to take some of my gals on the back. Thanks.

Either would do what your asking of it. As much as I love my dyna, and I do love my dyna, the new bikes are really good.
If you find a good price on a used few year old dyna, go for it. They're pretty cheap, good aftermarket support, and you can customize til the cows come home. Plus twin cam stuff is pretty reasonable too and theres lots of used stuff out there.
But if you've got the money, get the new bike. You won't be disappointed. In factory form, they run better, handle better, stop better, and have a factory warranty. But not a ton of aftermarket stuff for them yet.
If you want something to customize and are shorter on cash, get the dyna. If you are longer on cash and are looking for something to just get on look good and ride, and arent in a hurry to customize the thing, get the FXBB.
Both are excellent choices.

Here's what will happen.
You might go ahead and buy the 2016 Dyna, either because of the cheaper price, others may tell you that it's perfect for your first Harley etc. You will ride around on it and think that's it great, and think to yourself "man these Harley's are good, better than I thought"
You will be very happy.
Then one day, either through a friend, or by taking a demo out, you will ride the new M8 107 Softail Street Bob. This is when you will realize just how much better the new bike is, and that the Dyna is bad. This is the moment you will think "man, I wish I had of got the new bike instead, it is SO, SO MUCH BETTER!"
You will not be so happy all of a sudden.

It also depends on how much power you want later. As of right now, there is issues trying to get more power beyond the stage 4 kit with an aftermarket exhaust and correct tune. They are kinda like the V-Rod motor. They were engineered for an x-amount of power, beyond that, a lot of them grenade. Saying that, the Twin Cam needs work as well to survive with high amounts of hp and tq, but it has years of development behind it.
If you can get beyond the fact it does not have 2 shocks, they do handle.
I took my stock suspension Dyna S up to 120 in a sweeper, and it does not give you a confident feel. More like a wet noodle, lol.

2016 for the following reasons
1. 103 engine. Proven. The jury is still out on the m8
2. The novelty of owning a dyna now lol
3. More parts for aftermarket
4. Sounds waaaay better. The m8's sound like junk even with an exhaust.
5. You save money so you can take your gal for a nice trip. Win win!
