Constantly throwing kickstand springs
I am so pissed about this one. It's been like a nagging not-so-hot significant other that you absolutely need as a smash-piece but constantly throws you under the bus.
The "stud" on the bike for my kickstand spring has consistently let the spring fly off cause of minor bumps for about the past year and a half. I'm not going to go in to details but tonight was the last straw.
I'm about to weld some crazy **** to this Dyna unless someone chimes in with a better solution. Why does this thing suck?

After putting on the F-U kick stand - angle was such that it kept throwing springs off the pin (I say springs as it threw 2 off before I got fed up)
Took a spring..., heated one end tip w/ a torch - then bent it up a little - so as it swung around the pin.., it would "dig" in - (deeper into the recess just behind the pin head)..., instead of trying to "dig" itself off (out of the recess and off the pin head)
Never had the issue since

Crimp the spring end around the pin, then grease the pin. Now the spring slides around the pin.
Had the spring fly across the garage floor when I brought it home from the dealer, back in 1994. (1995 FXD.)
Friend rides his 1996 FXDConvert over. Extends jiffy stand, spring flies across the garage floor. He's a diesel mechanic. We crimp the spring loop around the pin and grease it. Both our bikes' jiffy stands worked "better than designed" until he traded his in on a softie (about 2000) and mine until 2015 when I got my FXDL. I fixed the new bike right off the bat. Sometimes, ya just gotta wonder...
