Default Changed battery successfully but now bike won't start

Hi,

I've searched the forums diligently so as not to repeat post but I can't find anything that helps. I recently replaced the battery on my 07 Dyna Superglide custom. The lights turn on, and electronics work fine, but now when I press the start switch, nothing. No clicking noise, no attempt to even turn over, just silence.

Is there something I need to do once I put in a new battery? Did I jar something loose when replacing the battery? Again the battery works and the motorcycle has power. Just nothing at all happens when I try and start up.

Thanks!!

Does the fuel pump kick on when you push switch to run. ?

Any recent mods beside battery?

Check your kill switch.
If you didn't unhook the battery cables in the right sequenced or hooked them up in the wrong sequence you might have blown a fuse by making accidental contact with the frame.

Are you sure that the battery is fully charged ? Do you have a voltmeter you can use to measure the volts ?...b.

Do 07s have a dedicated starter cable and a separate main power cable? Are both connected?

Take it out and get it load tested. (Batteries Plus does it for free.) You may have good voltage but no amperage. Even new batteries can go dead.

Thanks everyone for the help. I finally have a day to look into it:

SC07Bobber - Fuel pump does kick on when switched to run. I wired a speaker to the battery and ignition switch successfully a couple of months before the battery had to be replaced. I tried hooking up the battery with and without the speaker wired and it made no difference.

Nevil - I will give the kill switch and fuses a look. A blown fuse may be it.

beanoboy - battery has been tested and is fully charged at around 12.6 volts.

cggorman - i'm not sure if they're separate cables to be honest. But it looks as if everything is connected

toddskill - It has been tried in neutral and in first gear with the clutch engaged

FXD2003Rider - Thanks for the diagram, I'm thinking it may be a fuse problem.

Thanks all!

Test the battery again by turning your key on for a couple of mins. [without starting the engine] then switch it off and test the volts at the terminals again. should not be lower than 12.6/7v...b.
