Default FU HURR HARVEY! frame options

good evening fellas,

as usual, i know i can count on you guys for assistance.

i have good and bad news.

the bad news, hurricane harvey kicked our azz!

foot of water in house for over a week, pickup flooded and totaled, wifes car flooded and totaled, and '13 dyna SB flooded and totaled.

the good news, insurance is letting me purchase the bike back.

the better news, no water in oil, primary, or tranny.

the great news, bike started, and i took it for a quick ride around the block for 15-20 minutes. all seems well.

needed to see if it would start and run before making decision to buy back; ALL fluids will be changed before next start up, just to be extra safe.

the ok news, insurance is going to brand my title as NRVT (non-repairable vehicle title).

in texas, this means the dmv will NEVER register the bike's current VIN, nor can i carry insurance.

back to good news, i spoke with the dmv. i can purchase a clean titled frame and re-title in texas.

i can then re-build the bike with my same parts, and new frame.

i understand the bike is now worthless to anyone. however, the bike is NOT for sale, nor will it EVER be for sale.

MY QUESTION: WHAT YEAR RANGE DYNA FRAMES WILL FIT A 2013 STREET BOB? I KNOW THEY USE THE SAME FRAME FOR MANY CONSECUTIVE YEARS.

i know 2018 is no good; all softail.

HOWEVER, HOW EARLY CAN I GO? 2007? 2008?

ALL HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED; MY SHORT RIDE TODAY RE-ENERGIZED MY SOUL!

thanks rew13.

anyone have feedback regarding ronnie's harley davidson?

looks like the oem frame part # is a 47745-06b. $1,767.99

i dont mind paying for a factory part, if it is in fact a factory part.

other suggestions?

has anyone had to pay for a frame swap?

really busy rebuilding home; not much time to rebuild bike.

i was devastated with word of the NRVT title. having to replace both vehicles would not allow funds to replace bike. thought i was going to lose it.

first bike, and its exactly what i wanted; very lucky in that aspect.

then i spoke with the dmv and learned all i needed was a new VIN; simplest solution was frame swap.

Replacing the frame is a much more cost effective solution, and will allow me to be back on 2 wheels much sooner.

a little dusty from all the demo, but beautiful to me nonetheless.

Dealt w/ them quite a bit = always satsified

On another note:

Replace the wiring harness;

Water in connectors / connections will cause corrosion - resulting in intermittent issues / you chasing your *** trying to troubleshoot em

I believe (not completely sure...) that the new frame will have to be stamped with the old vin. Puts you in the same position...

I would make the insurance company show me, in writing, the reason that the bike has to be stamped as non repairable. Is it a Texas law, or is it the easiest way for the insurance company to process the bike during a massive workload event for them. I would work at reclassifying it. Totaled shouldn't necessarily mean non repairable.

I'm not sure, but some states will re title a salvage title, but I'm not sure which. That might be the easiest way to get a title and cost less. I look and see if you have a copart in your area and give them a call and ask them.
Don't see why they shouldn't help you since their about to sell a crap load of huricars!

Any fxd, FXDB, or FXDL/S frame from 2012-2017 should work just fine. Also, I would make the insurance company show me how it’s not repairable. Check local laws too about repairable and nonrepairable titles. Seems like they are just feeding you some bullshit because they don’t want to deal with the extra paperwork

That's crazieness having to change a perfectly good frame. I would talk to the insurance company, nothing wrong with that bike. Unplug all the wiring connectors and dry it out.
