What's your favorite speed?

What's your favorite speed?
I know...weird question. I just got in from cruising some quiet country roads at dusk here in Wisconsin. Seems like when I have the roads to myself, enjoying the scenery, enjoying the sound of the engine... and look down at my speedometer, I'm almost always going exactly 40mph. Yep, I'm no speed freak. Just wondering, do you find yourself cruising at a certain speed when there's no traffic, and you're just enjoying the ride?

RE: What's your favorite speed?
oh yeah - i am v-e-r-y good at 45-50. I feel like i don't have to be TOO wary of things jumping out at me, have a slow enough speed to react, but can certainly enjoy the ride and plenty of wind in my face - I'm a new rider - only a month in the saddle! But I have 10 miles to go on county roads before I hit any kind of city driving. i've only topped out at about 60 so far!haven't hit the interstate yet---i'll get there.......but in the meantime, I am having such a great time........at that same lower cruising speed -

Great question. I have never seen this brought up, anywhere. As you can see already, a lot of different answers. I would say about 40-45 when cruising a back-road scenic area. It feels good to take a hand off the bars and look around, breath in the fresh air, and "take it all in." On highways probably about 70.

On the highway, right around 70... when the bike is revving around 2900 in 6th gear and it's purring.
Ive seen similar posts about this and wondered. My 2000 FXDS is turning 3000 rpm at 70 mph. And you are right about the purring.. what a groove! But I would have thought the difference between a 6 speed and 5 speed would be greater. Internally by bike engine is factory.. just added Thunderheader and SE Stage 1 kit. Dont mean to hijack the thread but I was just wondering.
