You took the words right out of my mouth. 1900-2000 rpms (40-45 mph) working under a slight load in 5th gear on a country road at dusk. It flat doesn't get any better than that.

I know...weird question. I just got in from cruising some quiet country roads at dusk here in Wisconsin. Seems like when I have the roads to myself, enjoying the scenery, enjoying the sound of the engine... and look down at my speedometer, I'm almost always going exactly 40mph. Yep, I'm no speed freak. Just wondering, do you find yourself cruising at a certain speed when there's no traffic, and you're just enjoying the ride?

That's an interesting question - really have two favorites.
Oncountry roads enjoying the scenery, around 45 mph.
On the highway, right around 70... when the bike is revving around 2900 in 6th gear and it's purring.

What kind of engine do you have that lets you ride at that RPM? My bike will lug a great deal - starts lugging around 2400 or 2500 RPM (below that).
