I love a long haul, five to eight hundred miles. Leave at four o'clock in the morn, run for a good fast hour at eighty, stop for coffee and a cigarette and run another fast hour or two and stop for a leisurely breakfast. Run fast for about three hours and stop for a good meal and then relax cause you're ahead of the game, take a side road off the interstate for a while, stop when you want at a country store, take pics, just screw around.Late in the afternoon when you realize you still got two hundred fifty miles to go,crank it up,go like hell for about three hours and you're there.Just a nice fourteen hour day and sleep like a baby, makes life good.
Oh,yeah, guess my favorite speed is eighty fiveor fourty five, not much pleasure in between.
at slow speeds 55 and under i like the rpms up were i can hear the pipes.55-60 is good in 5th gear.and 70 is good in six .the only speeds i dont like is 25 mph or under.
Around here (twisty asphalt mountain roads), in 3rd gear below 3000 rpm.
That's just under 40 mph but it gives you an opportunity to excelerate out of the turns, fun.
Generally on the interstate running 70-75. Usually try and run with traffic cause you might get run over. Yes run over. 2 lanes 60-65. Just go out and ride safely. A lot of in town riding 45-50......Ride Safe and Often....BearC.Paw.....
Pushing into triple digits in 6th is great for a few miles. But on average between 70 and 80 in 6th on the highway and the 40 to 50 in 4th on backroads seems to be the sweet spot.
on the highway i like 60 - 65 even though i am constantly switching betweeb 5th and 6th cuz she feels like she's either running too hard or lugging. much more than that and the wind becomes kind of annoying, especially for any extended period of time. otherwise a leisurely cruise around 40-45 is nice
