Default Heat shield installation

Up until today, I ran wraps on the Thunderheader on my FXDLS. I did some hard riding and cornering today and when I got home, I noticed that I had scraped the exhaust on a corner and ripped the wrap. Time for a heat shield. My question is do I need to remove the system to install the heat shield? Harley says no. Thoughts?

No, you do it with the exhaust on the bike. The heat shields kinda block access to even unbolt the exhaust from the heads. Also, your pipe will be discolored from the wrap more than likely.

No. The heat shield sit on top of the exhaust and it is affixed by clamps... Wrapping the pipe are more time consuming than bolting on heat shields. Easy peasy!
