You are correct, skim heads and thin gasket should have this thing at 10:1 with the correct calculations. Heads still have to come off, so why not do the pistons whilst they are sitting there instead of milling heads which is irreversible. You could say milling heads is cheaper I suppose but 110 10:1 pistons are like $300 I think.
Thanks, my 103 started at 9.6, heads shaved a little with 30thou gasket and I'm at 10- 10-2ish. That's as high as I want to go with today's gas. My 455 in my firebird is also set at 10-1 straight pump gas, don't like the hassle of mixing fuel and it cost $$

That's some good advice, all around! He has good advice but once he starts asking "Why not do X as well?" beware

Sorry, late getting back on this, power was out last night (no electronics). I would think the Andrews 48 would probably be a good one. Cycle Rama 570-2 would be another good one for great low end torque IMO.

To be clear; no decking of the heads, nor thinner gasket is needed with the 10:1 pistons? I like this plan. Send the heads out to be blended/flowed, and reassemble with the new pistons. If this is a good plan, please confirm.
Thanks!

Thanks!
The 06 and up heads already have pretty good flow, but if you want them to work them some more, sure. Just don't expect much to be gained from the cost of it though. Really just pistons or decking and a thinner gasket needed for compression. Changing all of this to, the FXDLS has the largest bore allowed for the stock cylinders and almost no one makes domed pistons for the 4.00 bore. Even if they did, you would be rolling the dice on whether they would fall in to specs to match the current bore of your cylinders. I think you should go out and try to find domed pistons that fit the 4.00 bore. If you can find them, about 6cc domes will work, but good luck. Milling and a .030 gasket is your best route, IMO.

Or do the full 117" kit with pistons and cylinders matched to the compression you want.

It just seems not right to me to have to do a big bore kit or doomed Pistons when u already have that big *** 110 to start with! But there is no replacement for displacement!
