I see lots of bad DIY caliper paint, too. Although, I did some aluminum calipers years ago with engine paint because of a fairly complicated stencil I wanted. Was three colors. It held up really well for about 12 years and 150k+ miles, but it was a LOT of prep work. Base metal was sanded smooth to remove all the casting irregularity and parting lines. Cleaned and degreased fanatically, primed, sanded some more, etc. Wish I had pics. They looked nice.
thats ts the biggest problem is most people don't bother prepping, don't do it correctly, or don't know they have to. It don't surprise me that your paint job lasted so long. You seem like the type to take the time and learn to do every project 100% correct. I know cutting corners only saves time the first time you do it so i always research even if I think I can wing it.
Why don't you just get the HD dual red bagger Brembos? Should be plug and play as both the LRS and baggers have ABS if I'm not mistaken? Then you get the red calipers and an upgrade in stopping power

They do fit but they won't bite the entire disc, a bit of the pad is hanging out of the disc, when the pad wears out till that point you can guess what is going to happen.
Heat resistance can of spray paint and a few layers will do the trick. Did it on 2 of my cars. Lasted me over 100,000 km and 10 years before it started to chip.
I am going to get the calipers powder coated orange, not red. Plus I am going to get orange spark plug wires. A cool counterpoint to all the black on the LRS. Thanks y'all.
