Bye bye Dyna, no more in 2018 :-(
Anyone else watch the Harley Davidson dealer livestream? No more Dyna! Serious, no joke. It is now all Softail with M8 motor and a unified frame. So LowRider, Fat Boy (and one other) is now just a model variation on the Softail family. New motor, suspension, and lean angle yadda yadda yadda. But Dyna as a platform is now gone in 2018. Hope I sober up and realize I misunderstood what I heard. But that was Laidlaw's take as well. Loved my 2014.5 LR

They killed the Road Glide in 2014...for a year, probably to figure out the fairing redesign.
It's probably too much work to redesign the Dyna line AND the Softail line in the same year, so rather than carry the TC forward into 2018, just throw a few Dyna models into the new Softail frame and buy yourself a year to release the new 2019 M8 Low Rider and Super Glide. Come back in a year and we can see if my guess was stupid or not.
Ooops. I see the lowrider now. Bye bye, Dyna.

Well doubt it is "stupid" ;-). But HD does have to appeal to a new buyer crowd. Which I sorta am included (10 yrs). Even then, someone had to explain to me the differences. I had to show an old friend moving into HD bikes the diff between Dyna and ST. Aside from the faithful, does a separate Dyna and Softail family make sense to the new riders that they need to attract? If the new frame and motor give the sporty feel that the previous Dyna frame gave, does it matter much from a product management perspective? Seems like the biggest difference is the twin counter balancers of the new M8 engine. The vibrations of the rubber mounted TC may be permanent history now.
