Default 2016 Dyna Street Bob w/ V&H Short Shots

Hey All,

This is my first post and I'm new to forums. Couldn't find any info on this so I hope some of you can help!
2016 Dyna Street Bob
Arlen Ness Big Sucker
V&H Short Shots
V&H FP3

The bike runs great but my exhaust sounds sort of weird. I have already completed the auto tune. When I start it up and accelerate it sounds great. The problem is when I am just cruising say around 2200 RPMs it's almost like the exhaust is just pushing air out. Not really a rumble or anything, just a deep air sound like rolling your tongue while breathing out. Maybe I'm just paranoid and I just need to rip throttle more. Or it could be my full face helmet muffling the sound. Looking for some input. Thanks!

See how it sounds and runs not riding lower than say 2500rpm, stay on the pipe a little more, welcome to the forum

Cruising at 2200 rpm? What speed are you cruising at?

My guess is you are shifting to early. Short shots are not known to be quiet pipes. The max torque for street Bob is around 3250 rpm, Keep it close to there when you shift.

Also if you bought the short shots used the previous owner might have put quite baffles in them

Thanks for the tips guys. I made a few mistakes in my post: It has the sound if I'm going about 30 mph in 2nd gear at 2500-2600 rpms, around 40 mph in 3rd gear same rpms, etc. I could be shifting a little early like you said. It seems to sound better when I keep it right around 3000 rpms. The short shots are brand new purchased with standard baffles. The really weird thing for me is I'm going steady at say 2700 rpms and let off the throttle to 0%, it almost seems louder then.

It seems pretty normal to me. Like someone previously said, you're just in a lul in the powerband. Just keep those rpms up bud and welcome to the forum!
