I've got QBs in my SS and it's still plenty loud....with or without a helmet. I would run it around without the full face helmet, I'm thinking it has something to do with your problem .

Shift at 3250!? Is the 103 a diesel?

My 88 sees 6000+ every time I ride. I know the 103 has a lower redline, but damn.

Max torque for SB occurs at 3250. Whatever 88 or 6000+ means, OP's bike is a SB

I doubt this helps you any, but the V&H short shots were horrible sounding pipes-with or without the quiet baffle. I couldn't stand the way they sounded. The straight shots were better but not by much.

Yeah they aren't the best sounding compared to others, but I don't think they are too bad. Just sound a little "airy" at certain rpms for me.

Try some different baffles or inserts in them- not quiet baffles.

Interesting timing on this thread. Today at lunch a guy pulled up to the restaurant on a '15 Low Rider just like one I had before my LRS. We got talking and eventually started his up. He had short shots.

For a long time, I dismissed short shots due to their reputed poor performance compared to good 2:1's. However these sounded really good. So much so that for a moment I gave a thought about getting a set. It was a fleeting thought, but they still sounded damn good to me.

You may change your mind once you ride a bike with them on it.

Not sure what you mean. Are you saying the performance of short 2:2's are as good as 2:1's? Or just liking the sound?
