Default Opinions on front tires

I currently run 90/21 on the front of my 06 dyna wideglide I'm changing the front and rear together before a 11 hour 1 way trip next month. I've noticed since I've gotten my dyna with that front tire corners don't feel AS stable no problems with it just not as much confidence as before with wider front tires and highway speed tighter corners. Again not a huge problem. Just looking for opinions can I go wider front and still keep my custom 21 inch rim and not lose the style of the bike "wasn't cheap would like to keep it" or is it better to keep as is? I'm running the dunlops front and rear. Thanks

It all depends on your wheel width and fender (if any) clearance. I run a 120/70 21 on the front of my bike and love it, but my rim is also 3.5" wide.

Don't know if you can get a wider 21" tire, but the first thing you should do is get rid of the Dunlops. There are better tires out there. I run Metzlers and Love them, no more crack chasing do to poor tread pattern design.

Which metzlers do you recommend for a good balance in tread wear and performance?

I'm using the 880's but I hear the 888's are great too.

Note: They are a softer tire and you'll get less miles, but the traction is worth it.

If you're running a 21" x 2.15" wheel the 90/90-21 is the largest size tire you should try and use.

As others have posted, the Dunlops are not the greatest tire out there I'm a fan of Pirelli Night Dragons on my Wide Glide. They're a more sport oriented tire with their composition and more rounded profile.

They're firm and planted in some of the high speed sweepers I get to ride around here, and the front doesn't have a wandering vague feeling in a straight line...

What would you say is the average miles you get for your tire life on front and rear?

I'm not the best person to answer that, I've never run them right down to see just how far I could take them, I'm no fan of worn tires and tend to spoon on a new set rather regularly but this latest set has just over 5k on them and are showing no appreciable wear or abnormal wear patterns. At this rate I'll run these the rest of the season and change them out over the winter.

The Night Dragons are a more performance oriented tire with a softer composition so they will wear faster than a harder 'high mileage' tire. The trade off is the handling improvements; and I'll take handling over longevity every time

If you were to do some searching you'll see some people have posted their Night Dragons were 'worn out' at some low mileages. That's due to improper inflation. These are a more rounded profile and are more sensitive to their pressures. Run them too low and they will wear hard, the front will begin to scallop/cup, and the handling is diminished.

With my '13, I'm running the 90/90-21 front at 39 - 41 PSI and the 180/60-17 rear at 42 - 44 rear...
