180 on a 4.5rim myth busted
ive read so many coments on what 180 tyre will fit a BOB with the 4.5" factory rim , besides the SE 502 which here in australia is like trying to find ROCKING HORSE POO
so today i went to a mates tyre shop to see what i could fit up with the safty factor in mind
the results are all 180/55/17
DUNLOP D220 way to much side wall roll defently needs a 5.5[:@]
DUNLOP QUALIFYER not much better[:@]
SHINKO nicer looking side wall BUT a little on the pointy side,
CONTINENTEL nice looking side wall with near close toperfect shapeid use it if needed
AND THE WINNER IS
CONTIFORCE , SWEET AS the side wall looks how a side wall of a tyre should and the curve of the tyre is perfect , there would be no problem fitting up this tyre , THIS IS WHAT I NOW RUN
but
there was a 2004 fatboy getting a new 200 put on , so we sat the rim/tyre up in the BOB and wamo , there would only be a problem of the blinker wires hitting after a period of time , maybe a flatter plate would solve this problem , apart from that we COULD not get the 07 caliper onto the 06 fatboy disc , not that we were trying to hard, a spacer would be needed on the pulley to move it out a touch, there is plenty of room on the front pulley to move the belt over upto 10mm, 7mm would be better , THIS RIM WAS1 OF THE SOLID 6" ONES WITH ALL THE HOLES IN IT

Only problem i see is the tire load rating is for 365 kg(804 lbs), the dry weight of a street bob is 288 kg(635lbs), now with a full fuel tank and a 200 pound rider you would be seriously pushing the limits of that tire.

Ratbasturd....Not sure how they do it but that seems alittle weird to do it that way.
Im not saying im an authority on tires im just trying to find out as much info as i can
Baca mick....I tried the shinko 180 55 17, i really like how it lowered the bike but it didnt fit the rim at all, it squeezed the tire and make it to round, and wore funny. Does the 180 you out on lay out nice

Kinda like tractor trailer tires are not rated at 40,000lbs each.
As for my tire I didn't go 180 just went with the 170/60 Shinko not sure how long it is gonna last but it sure feels good [sm=wootwoot.gif], lovin the traction.
