Awesome idea and design, but where/what is the source? ipod? portable CD? Couldn't see anything in the bag, so am assuming you carry it on your person??

I use a Ipod shuffle... it is small and i clip it on the fork bag, or the cables from the clutch... works awesome... i also have a external amp that i will use once and a while to clear up the sound so that i can really crank it up! like i said i ride hard and with the windshield on i can hear it at 80+mph...

can you make up a list of materials you used, speakers, amp and stuff and maybe another pic or 2? The masses would much appreciate. I can almost hear some Tull just thinkin bout this.

Thanks

Very cool! We definitely need more info and more pics. Don't tease us! Did you cut any holes in the bag to let the sound out?

I am in the process of getting the idea patented... After i recive the documents back from the gov. i will post a more detailed description... I use a duel amp set up, and i am going to try and combine the amps so that i only have the one... the "in bag" amp is used for just sound strengh, the external amp i use on long trips with lots of highway, it clears up the sound before going into the bag amp allowing me to turn it up alot louder and still have the clear sound i want... around town or short highway trips the in bag works out great! i have it all hard wired to the bike and have been at parties and gatherings with it just screaming while the bike is parked for hours and never had battery drain problems... not sure how much it actually uses... the external amp runs off a 9v battery for about 200 hours. here are a few more pics. the only speaker that you can see is the tiny tweeter i use to catch the highs that get lost in the wind...

I have been selling them at ralleys and bike shows for around 200-250... it cost me right around 110 to make and does take about 5 hours per bag. The only reason i am putting a patent on them is i have already had someone try to make them and sell them for 600!!! that is nuts! a stereo should not cost over 300! i am still trying to find some small allweather speakers for the bag. I have not had any problems with rain so far, i just remove the external amp, and tuck the imput line into the fork bag... no problems... let me know if you need anything else!
here are a few more pics... you can see the controls for the internal amp in the last picture. they are on the side of the bag so it can be adjusted for both pitch and volume, with a led to tell you if it is on or off. We are currently trying to mount a 8 in sub in a crotch rocket... i will let you know how that goes... fiberglassing a box that molds to the plastic pannels is never fun but once i get a template i can make them alot easier...

you metioned getting a patent for your idea. iam going to tell you not to waste your money on a patent. reasoning is: the parts allready exist (fork bag, amp, speakers). if it was totally new to the world andweremaking the speakers, amp and thebag from your own design, then a patent would be necessary. but if your useing products thatexiston the market now, then i recommend notgetting one. becausethere is so many ways around a patent for this particular idea, that spending themoney on a patent is just a waste of money. all they have to do is use a diffrent bag or amp or speakers to get around the patent, even change the wiring harness can void your patent. another thing you have to remember is a u.s. patent does not pertain to china or japnese laws, so they can steal at will and then make the crap chinese version[:@]. but if you want to spend the money, then go for it. if you need any info on patents or need help filling out or understanding the info or places to get the info, let me know, i can help you with it. since i have been through it before. also talk to a consultant before getting a patent, they will help you understand the whole patent thing easier. the last thing to remember though about a patent, never show your work before you getthe productpatented, if someone likes your idea and is faster at getting it done then you, you could get sued from your own idea, because they were faster at making it and patenting it. suggestion on your bag, you should put the amp inside the bag and make a waterproof case for it. great idea though, hopeeverything works out for you and your project.jackyl

you might also want to check out a company called DWG SPEAKERS , for some diffrent amps or for the marine speakers, they are china crap, but you can check them though.
