My clunk is back. I never loosened the lower pinch bolts and did not have the front tire off the ground. I will also follow this procedure to see if I can settle my nerves. I am frustrated. I thank you guys for the info on some of these threads.

It's not your steering head or your tank. Lie on the ground and look under your bike. There is a cross member in the frame where your kickstand attaches. Directly in front of that cross member is your crank case. I'm willing to be that at the very least, your kickstand pin is hitting the bolt on your case. I shimmed my pin to pull it back a bit and it helped... However... the right move is to loosen all of your motor mounts (at the least front and back, but the top stabilizer could be loosened as well) and to re-position the engine a little more forward, as your crank case is probably hitting the cross member. it's a pain in the *** to do, and you may need to use washers to shim your rear mount forward a little, but I'm willing to bet this will solve your issue.

I put the predator on last week, and I am having the same problem now. Like I said, I spaced the pin back using a washer and it helped a lot. Now it's only on larger bumps at slow RPM that I occasionally get the knock (from the case hitting, I don't think it's the bolt anymore). You can reverse the pin too, but I couldn't get it in because the crank case bolt was in the way.

That's interesting; I'm getting no noises at all from the Predator. I know you followed the install correctly; did you lubricate the stabilizer heim joints? The only thing I could imagine that may be making any noise. I hit the joints with some DuPont teflon dry lubricant every 2 weeks or so...

Squeaking could be coming actually from an exhaust leak, check your exhaust nuts are torqued correctly, and another thing to look at is the 3 torx screws that hold the exhaust header pipe, the bracket under the engine, on my ride they came loose, one fell out and got lost, and another dropped into the oil pan when I was doing an oil change, look at my thread below.

Also check to see that the valve cover or exhaust/shield are not hitting the frame down tube.

Well low and behold I went out for a good ride yesterday, got back and had a chiping noise on the bike that I had not before, so went over what did I do lately to the bike, yep I put another set of mufflers on, so I loosened the bolts that attach to all the brackets, retorqued everything and the singing canary chirp has gone, so if you get a chirp check all the bolts on the exhaust brackets.

Since this thread is still kicking I'll mention that tightening the steering adjuster nut made an improvement temporarily but it's now back to the same strange underseat/foot peg thumping. Interesting note is that when my wife rides on the back the vibration and thumping disappear completely, 100% gone. ~headscratch~

Interesting which means more weight on the rear makes front lighter, when did you last change the oil in your fork springs.
