How to Vent My Bike to Atmosphere?
I have the stock 103 HO intake on my bike with a K&N air filter. I am happy with how this system looks and breathes on the bike, and I would like to keep this set up. Has anyone vented this stock intake set up to atmosphere? I've read a number of threads on the subject, but didn't see any like mine done. If so, what parts/kit would I need? Thanks.

Let's have a look at the stock venting right now and I can help you with that. Take you chrome cover and snap a few close up pics. Include the tubing coming out of the head and how they enter the filter.
I tapped into those tubes with 90 degree pvc running them along side the filter then put a 'T' and ran it below the engine. I put rubber plugs in the filter where the tubes ran into....viola cheap atmosphere venting. Did that as soon as I brought him home until I decided on which intake I wanted. My choice of intake was determined by how easily the breathers could be vented and the SS was a pc of cake to vent.
If you would like pics, I can do so once I get to a laptop as there's no way to copy and paste from photobucket with a smartphone.

I have ALWAYS just let them atmosphere vent. NEVER had a problem. I used to make a "T" in-between the two vents, and would run a hose to the ground. No need to do this, on a perfectly good running engine, AND an engine that is NOT OVER FULL WITH OIL. Mine at the time had a stock bottom end that was on it's way out after years of abuse. I refuse to put hot "oil vapor" back into my engine. I build a high performance engines and want all the fresh, cold air I can get. After about 500 miles there is a little, and I mean little oily residue around the breathers.

If you want to stick with the HO air cleaner setup you could simply use the stock breather bolts and re-route the breather plug hoses out of the backplate. You'd need to drill 2 small holes for the breather hoses, some added hose, and a couple of fittings. From there you can decide how you want to route the breather hose.
There have been some very creative ways of venting to atmosphere while still using the stock A/C. I found a few examples for you to see, sort of shows you how others have found the work-around. Might work for you as well

So far it hasnt. Been like that for about 7 months now and a couple of oil changes. But I do keep a close eye on my fluid levels and dont overfill. I have seen a tiny bit on the exhaust blown from the wind but the filter takes care of it mostly.

Here's a picture of the backing plate with one of the breather bolt plugs removed. Looks like a matter of getting some 5/16" (or 9mm?) ID hose to fit over the breather bolts, driil 2 holes in the backing plate to route the hoses out to a small crankcase filter. What type of hose do you guys use? And which crankcase filter? Thanks!
