Default Removed speedo, put back, now won't work?

I took my speedo/tach off about 6 months ago when I put apehangers on, it just didn't look right. I am now going to sell the bike. I put the speedo on, plugged it in butit won't work? The tach works fine but the speedo won't. Is there some kind of reset button or something that I can do?
Thanks

Did you have the speedo off for six months?

It's a 2001 superglide with the stock speedo/tach handlebar mount. The speedo has been off for just about+-6 months.
mudpuddle what seat is that on your bike? it looks good and appears to have some lower back support too.

hog, the speedo - I'm not familiar with the 01 equiptment.
Hopefully someone will chime in with an easy answer for you.

The scenario doesn't make sense, if it was working properly when you removed it.

the seat - 06 LowRider. I agree, looks good and it is comfortable.
My favorite seat yes it is. I have 4 different stock 06 seats,
and I alsotried the BadLander. Yeah it was bad. Got rid of it.

Good luck with your issue, worst case scenario,
knock 150 off the sale price, or buy a new speedo.
