Default 103" kit vs individual parts

I have been looking at different options for rebuilding my 96" engine at some point. I have looked at the 107", 110" and both require (suggest) a new larger throttle body. Anyways, I started looking at the 103" HD offers ($699), problem #1 is that the kit doesn't come in black, so this has already pushed me away for it. #2 is all the added stuff in the kit that I don't need, i.e. new clutch spring (replaced mine when I added Barnett clutch parts), Stage 1 air cleaner (already have the Ness Big Sucker) and with added little things to install them. Pretty much all I need is the Cylinders, pistons, piston pins, rings and gaskets for reassembly.......correct? I looked into just those parts and if I were to order 2 sets of part number 16800003A (CYLINDER ASSEMBLY, W/ PISTON, RINGS, PISTON PIN & RETAINING RINGS (BLACK, NON-HIGHLIGHTED) from a 2015 FXDB, two cylinder gaskets, two cylinder base O-rings, two exhaust gaskets and four dowel pins, I'd be looking at $660.

Is there anything else I would need to make this change if I were to go this route? (I plan to do cams, cam tensioners, cam plate, push rods, re-tune when I do the rebuild and don't know if I plan to do any head work at the time)

Take some advise from someone who's done it: Skip the 103 and do the 107 or 110. It's not just the extra displacement, but the added compression that adds power. You can survive with your stock throttle body if an upgrade isn't in the budget.

The 103 kit from Harley does come in black. I would go and get your cylinders bored to fit appropriate pistons

I absolutely loved my 110, but I'd highly suggest the 107 kits. You can get a lot of power out of a 107 and pay less than the moco 110 kit. If you can get a tb in a kit you're better off cause they're ****in expensive separately. I like the HD kits but if you already have some of the parts they include, it's wastin money. I did the 117 kit because it included upgrades I wanted to do anyway like the tb, larger injectors, cams, etc.

AMS in Ft Worth, Texas has big bore kits at really good prices. I'm going to treat my 07 Dyna to a 107" kit at 100,000 miles. I'm currently at 91,000 miles.
