Default Silicon Gasket?

I was changing my oil this morning and i noticed there appears to be a misaligned silicon or rubber gasket on my engine case.

You can see where chunks of it flaked off and were it's thick at the top. Is this anything to be concerned about? I don't have any leaks but this was odd to find

Also, it looks like my case is misaligned where the red circle is.

Either of these things a real concern or am I just being insane?

Thanks for the help

They use a grayish sealant between case halves. Not sure what it's made of. Many sealants for this type of application are anaerobic, unlike traditional RTV silicone.

If the cases were misaligned your engine would be in about 100 pieces on the road. I never noticed any machined edges on mine but I may have just missed it. It seems more likely to be a big glob of sealant.

You're good.
