If you've any seal grease it won't hurt to use it sparingly on the lip of the seal if the new seal doesn't already have some when it comes new out of the packet. Or you can use transmission oil to do the same job.

Thanks again j bee. No corrosion or wear as the shaft is in good shape just some discoloration. Can't say the same for the old bearing and race which was the main reason for starting this job. Looks like I didn't have much longer to go before something bad went down. Guess winter had good timing up here. Btw you last post said 4:51 am. You an early riser or night shift or across the big pond?
