Default Gotta show you guys...engine ****

Sorry, but this isn't really totally Dyna stuff.....but I have been hanging out in the Shovelhead section recently and there's very low foot traffic there right now. I also justify it that this bike is one of the real precursors to the first Dynas. And I love my Dynas. And there is my Fat Bob in the background on the first pic. So there....

Plus I know you Dyna guys appreciate engine **** and engineering more than anyone else.

Anyway... a few photos of my ongoing Shovel rebuild. So far, the bike is pretty much stripped down and the motor and transmission are with a superb engine builder who specialises in Pans and Shovels. Specs yet to be finalised until the cases are split and everything measured, however I have a growing pile of Shovelhead engine parts here....

Bike after the motor was out

The motor looking sad....never mind!

Here's an example of one on the bench being built up right now. Don't the vapour blasted and ceramic coated parts look sexy?

And the next one in line.

Another view of a very cool looking engine being created

My bottom end in comparison

And my tranny - which will get the same kind of loving!

I won't pollute the Dyna forum with any more Shovelhead stuff, but I have an ongoing build thread here where I will detail progress (might take some time to complete) in case anyone is interested:

Wow. I have rebuilt an old bike (not stripped to the frame) and can appreciate the level of expertise and attention to detail going on there. Whenever I retire I'd like to do a project like that. May never happen, but it's a bucket list item.

Great pics! keep 'em coming.

Its kind of funny... It's been nearly 10 years since I rebuilt / built an engine, and I've been itchin to build another small block drag motor.

Lol! Too many, but that's not one of them. That was about 10 years ago.
