Thoughts on these black rotors?
Black rotors is on my long to-do list. What are thoughts on these?
Description says "zinc plated" but I'm thinking someone powdercoated some rotors and they're trying to sell them as something nice. The price is right, but if it's actual powder, that would make for poor braking and probably look like **** after a few hundred miles when the pad makes contact and streaks all the black right?
In other words, why are Lyndalls and Brembos black rotors $400 each if there are going for $90. Anyone have any thoughts?

It wouldn't be a powder coat on the friction surface - that would be dangerous. Not sure what a 'black zinc' coating would be though, or what difference it would make to braking performance.
Lyndalls are a very different beastie: a metal/ceramic composite material, solid, not just a coating on a stainless disc like these appear to be. Weight is significantly less (like half or something, and braking performance is said to be significantly better. Id' guess a $400 black Brembo might be a similarly exotic compound.
DNA (and I have no first-hand experience with them) seem to have a reputation of being low price, but not great quality. They do look cool though!

I don't have experience with those exact rotors, but I have Wilwoods that came with a "Black E-coat", which is probably similar.

Didn't take long to look like this. Doesn't bother me though.
I never expected them to stay completely black. I would expect the ones you listed will do the same thing.
I'm perfectly happy with them for the price, for what it's worth.
On another note, the ones you list look like the exact same ones my brother is running except his are chrome. He said they're fine. Nothing special. If you're looking for a high-performance braking system, you know it's not gonna be in that price range.
