Those divets of sheared off rubber are so odd. I assume you haven't locked up the front or ridden over some type of sharp gravel/grates/debris?
The ride-on theory seems solid. Easy enough to dismount the tire, wash it out, and closely inspect for internal damage...or remount and check for leaks.

yeah, i think i got the final warning from the tire yesterday. the bike will stay on the lift this week.

Yea, your Wide Glide is in a no ride condition with that tire, glad you've got a new Night Dragon on the way, that tire on your beastie was gone. I hope this solves your problem once and for all and get's your long ride bike back again
