I never knew there was a "further forward" kit. I wonder if the shift lever could be purchased separately?

The further forward kit utilizes the same shift linkage and brake stay. The foot peg mounts are situated 2 inches forward and also the shifter and brake pedal are 2 inches forward.

I have a set that is missing the shifter. For sale maybe. You can purchase the shifter separately at some of the Harley Davidson online places like board tracker.

I swapped the forward controls on my 14' FXDF a year or so ago for mids. Pretty straight forward swap.
