High Idle in the Rain...PCIII Issue?
Got caught in a turd floater today. Shortly after the initial wetting, I noticed my idle speed increase to double the norm. I was on the highway, so I adjusted with cluch & gear and rode that way for about 45min. Stopped for 1/2 hour, checked to make sure the throttle cable was not sticking - no, started it up and it idled fine. Took off and 5 minutes later it was idling high again. Then almost hope and started randomly getting a noise like it was misfiring. Then the security light came on for about 10 minutes.
I am thinking maybe the PCIII got wet and and was giving misdirection to raise the idle speed.
Any clues?

You answered your own question. I washed my bike last month, kind of like riding in the rain as far as the bikes concerned. I had a high idle and it seemed like it was surging.
I thought that I caught some bad fuel. I took off the seat when I washed it like I always do and must have soaked the conection to the ECM/PC III. I wrapped the
connections and have washed it since then and everything is just fine.

Looks like the culpret was a wet connection on the PCIII. Dried it out, added some dielectric grease, wrapped in seran wrap and then wrapped that with gorilla tape.
Hopefull I with not have to experience that again.
Went to every electrical connection I could find and loaded it up with dielectric.
I also found my front turn signal bulbs got wet and shorted out and the horn got water in it also.
After I fixed everything, went for a ride and got rained on again. This time no problems, but the rain was not near as bad as the day before.
Going out again today, 50% chance of rain, so I'm sure I will be coming home with wet boots again. Which is ok, as long as my electronics stay dry.
