Still happy with your tank lift?
So I am getting the bug again to start doing some mods, I saw a pic the other day of a '10 WG with a a tank lift and I thought it looked great so it got me thinking....
Tank lifts haven't been discussed for a little while on here so I was wondering for you all that did a tank lift; do you still have it lifted, are you happy with it? If you took the lift off what was the main reason?
Thanks for you inputs!

I did a 2" on the front and 1/2" on the rear of my Road King a few years back and still have it up there. I didnt do it for aesthetics but to get more air to the jugs when I lived in Arizona. Since living in Colorado for two years I really don't need the cooling. I've removed the oil cooler and although I haven't lowered it, I have no plans to raise the tank on my SB.

I did a 2" tank lift on my Super Glide before summer. I really like it. It allows me to access my CV performance easy-idle screw on the top of the carb. There also more air flow to the engine and it's easier to clean the rocker covers. I seem to get more compliments on my bike too since tank lifts aren't as popular as they used to be. It added a subtle, but unique look.

I added a 2" lift to my street bob. I really like the way it looks. The one thing I've been wanting to experiment on is my gas milage. I went on a 3k mile ride a couple weeks back and it seemed I wasn't getting the milage that I should have been. I got a max of about 140 miles on a tank. It seems like I should be getting more. IDK if anyone else can provide some input on this, but I'm thinking about taking the lift off and recording the milage with it both on and off.

Yeah, go by the miles divided by the gallons then see where your mileage is. A tank lift is not going to affect your gas mileage. Those gas gauges are pointless and usually leave over 2 gallons of fuel, they are crude to say the least. That means your using approx 3 gallons of fuel. Divide 140 miles by 3 gallons (approx 46.66MPG), your right where you need to be.

Thanks for the inputs so far, I was curious on what height to go, it seems like 2" is the consensus.
Thought the increased inaccuracy of the fuel gauge would be an issue with some. Seems logical that the mpg's wouldnt change but usable fuel per tank probably would go down. But I dont think that will be an issue since I usually fill up at around 120 miles.
