Default Syn3 mess-up @1000 miles

Anyone out there had ANY problems with syn 3 ? I took the 07 in for the 1000 mile check up told the service writer that I wanted regular 20-50 oil and non syn in the rest of the holes, when I came back to pick the bike up he tells me that the tech put Syn3 in all the holes. Question is has anyone out there had any problems running syn3

thanks for all the input

When I did my 1000mi service I did the same as you wanted. regular 20-50 in crank case and formula plus in the other two holes. Gonna run it up to 3000mi. then dump all and put in syn.But prolly not HD syn. Amsoil or Royal Purple. We'll see how it goes. My stealer says syn 3 will "work" but doesnt say it is better than any other.

Friends of mine have told me not to use synthetic in the motor until it hs about 5k miles to reduce the chance of seeping oil, but many here have done it before 1k and had no problems at all. [sm=confused06.gif]

I thought that all the 07s were coming from the factory with syn3. At my 1000 mile service i put syn3 in and didnt like it, i found i harder to shift, hard to find neutral, engine was noisier and ran hotter. I switched to amsoil 20/50 in engine and primary and amsoil 75/90 in the trans and all the problems went away. Not to mention the amount of metal sludge i found on the drain plug with the syn3 has very much decreased.

I've used Synthetic for years in my cars and now the harley. It's the only way to go. My mechanic swears by it. He showed me the oxidized engine with the dino oil and a shiny new looking engine with more miles with the synthetic. Works better in high heat.

I've been running Syn3 since my first service. No problems. However, I have found that leaving off a quart and adding a quart of Lucas Synthetic additive really improves lubrication and cuts down on all the valve train noise. It is really great stuff.
