Swap out? Meaning remove and only have a light bar?

Might look a little goofy, and get you pulled over by every cop that sees you I would think.

I'd be curious as to the legality of it.

I think it looks awesome, just wouldnt fit with the rest of my bike.

Dont know the law in NY, I just know they dont allow anything, ever, anywhere.

But in CT, i sometimes see trucks running these as their primary lighting and they seem ok

I don't think they're legal as a primary light. That doesn't mean you'll necessarily get hassled though...

I don't know that they throw light like a headlight should. They are mostly used off road as auxiliary lighting. Probably better to use it that way on the road as well.

How so? I'm pretty sure the people that make the light bar that Rusty Butcher uses has a High/Low beam option.

I would change the light out to a daymaker style light and mount a light bar under it using the headlight bolt on the triple tree as a mount point. Never have enough lights on the back roads.

They provide intense light up close, but (my opinion) they don't throw light far enough to use as a primary.
I have one on my Buell and at 80mph it's not lighting up the road far enough out ahead of me.
I'm sure they'll get better with time.

I never got hassled by the cops (Los Angeles) but with no high/low I blinded plenty of drivers. Mainly when turning at intersections.
We didn't have motorcycle inspection in CA. I was recently informed that in NY (NYC for sure) I'm supposed to get yearly inspections. (on to-do list).
Anyhow, NY State Law requires you have high/low. Food for thought.
