Front Axle Cap Question

Front Axle Cap Question
I recently had my front wheel swapped out from the stock 19" to a 16". When I got home, out of paranoia I wanted to check the torque on the axle nut and axle cap screws. Both axle cap screws were stripped (I guess the installer didn't realize they were metric). There was also a good sized gap on the left side of the axle cap (facing rear of bike). I was able to remove the axle cap screws by pounding a torx bit into the stripped heads and then removed the axle cap. The service manual says "with cast in spacer (1) of axle cap facing rear of vehicle..." I think they installed the axle cap backwards. Should the axle cap side with the indentations face the rear of the bike? (see attachment) is this what they mean by the "cast in spacer"? It was the other way around when I removed it.Sorry for the long post. Want to get it right before I put it back on with the new allen bolts. Thanks, Zippo
