Default Battery cover band removal?

Hi all -

Perhaps a silly question with hopefully a simple answer, but how the heck do you remove the battery cover band on an '07 Bob? Want to either paint it black or leave it off altogether - does it serve any purpose, or is it just there for "looks"? Thanks for any help.

There are four pinch tabs onthe back of the cover. Remove the battery cover by loosening the screw and lifting it off of the tabs of the battery tray. Then you'll see the pinch tabs inside the cover. Pinch them together and push them through. The band will come off.

Thanks, thought it might be simple. Had thought you might be able to just snap it out, but clearly it didn't want to budge and I didn't want to force it.

Appreciate the help!

I just did the same thing. I am looking for some kind of small spiked nut and screw combo to fill the holes. Anyone know where I can find some?

Jeez, that was simple !!! Took all of 2 minutes and didn't even need to remove the seat.

Rooster - just looking over the 4 holes in the battery cover and I tried out an idea - license plate frame bolts - I had some skull ones kicking around and looks like they'll be a good fit to cover up the holes - available at any auto parts store and probably WallyWorld as well, and lots of styles to choose from I suspect. Haven't checked for clearance with the length of bolts, they may need a little trimming though.

I used the plastic caps that fill the holes on the rear fender. A little Dremel and a little force and viola...

Spikes and Studs alot of these spikes have screw backs and could be used on the battery cover

http://studsandspikes.com/buy/spikes-c-43.html

Let me know if you try them.
