There's actually two tubes there, hard to make out in the pictures but, there's one to pound in (seal driver) the seals and another to get the first tube off the slider after pounding in the seal. I drop it down in the first pvc and tap it to break seal driver free. The 2nd is the smaller diameter pvc i used to drive the seal on my 39mm forks.

All the sludge there this time was alarming... it was grainy to. Not good. It was trapped up under the damper too, not in the slider. A draining would not have gotten it out.
