Red face I Knew I would Need a New Basket Sooner or Later

PAGE 4 has pics of the Evolution Basket and powder coated inner primary along w/ install

PAGE 5 has pics of final powder of outer primary, baker comp and finished assembly

As the title states....it was bound to happen. I was out Sunday w/ couple buddies in farm land and after 2 launches as I came to a stop sign I heard marbles coming from below. I though at first I was my motor, but ten put my ear closer and it was coming from the primary.

Upon opening the primary the 2 smaller pieces fell out (blew to sides off the basket). Very lucky though if you see in the pics one got tucketed above the comp and the others just stayed below and somehow didn't lock anything up.

Time for an Evoultion Industries clutch basket to be comboed w/ my Scorpion clutch. Here goes some money....I guess it costs to play!

Decided to investigate more and pulled the inner primary as well and then took the off the magnet cover from the stator and found a metal chunk on the bottom.....glad I did instead of just thinking nothing went back there.

I pulled the trigger on the basket and the new S&S race that goes on the main shaft to prevent it from ever walking.

Nice piece of kit; glad to see it didn't cause worse damage.

Is that the same basket everyone else seems to be going with? I had no idea it was that expensive. I'm just using the Alto +1 kit on my stock basket. I don't do any launches though.

Thanks for posting about the S&S race I didn't know they had released one for the late model bikes.

Yah that seems to be the popular basket of choice. Father in law has been using it forever and it's perfect. And that race I saw before, but now is the perfect time for it.....one of those preventative things while I'm there.

Evolution also makes parts for Rivera.

Bout 18k on the bike and new motor has around 6k since rebuild. I was expecting that to happen and chanced it.

If you ride hard w/ a built motor I highly recommend getting a new basket and clutch setup. I got real lucky....could have ruined the entire inside of the primary, locked up the rear wheel, bent/snapped the crank, and caused a major accident.

Hes referring to the metal cage that surrounds the clutch pack (in this instance it looks like hes using a Barnett scorpion clutch) .. that's where all of the pieces that he is showing us came from (said basket) after the stupid thing shelled on him..

Glad its no worse the wear bobber.. surprised you didn't hear it go bang though.. replacement basket looks super nice.. and pricey of course.. 700 + clams.. ouch!
