New Rider Questions, (FXDB)
Hi, I am a new rider. Never drove anything but an automatic car until i took the MSF basic rider course 3 weeks ago, got endorsement, and then a week later bought a 2016 "Street bob". (pretty impulsive/stupid/amazing move, i know)
My question is being a guy who is 6'1" long arms and legs, is it right to assume it would be more comfortable ride with forward control and different handle bars? anyone else on here around this height make modifications for comfort?
have some mercy on me, i dont know any of the motorcycle lingo im new to all this stuff,

Are you uncomfortable now?
Personally, I'd suggest riding this season as the bike is so you can maximize time in the saddle to develop skill and also get a solid feel for what on the bike works for you and what doesn't.
Personally, I think mid controls are friendlier for new riders...although I do like my forwards. You can always add highway pegs or other forward pegs that will let you stretch on the highway.

Thanks for the tip, i can see what youre saying.
yet, I am slightly uncomfortable in the sense that I try to mimic where i want to be by leaning back farther but my leg placement is semi annoying , easiest way for me to put it is I want to stretch out more.
whats the typical price on forward controls, parts and labor? and does it make a huge difference

Stick with mid controls for at least one season. Easier to learn on.

No problem planning for the future passenger and I stress future, I would give your self a minimum of (3) months of solo before you even think about adding a variable as big as a passenger. As for the seat there are many choices out there, Harley has a sample wall where you can try them out, Corbin and Mustang make some solid seats.

Spend the summer riding and flipping thru catalogs. Spend the winter buying parts and wrenching.
A few places to look... (order the printed catalogs when available!)
J&P Cycle (excellent printed catalog)
V-Twin mfg (excellent printed catalog)
Revzilla (broad selection, similar to J&P, but less cruiser oriented)
Jake Wilson (cheap tires)
Rocket Bob's (builds the best custom Dynas in the world)
DK Customs (nice affordable mods)
Lowbrow Customs (nice affordable mods)
...and, of course, our forum sponsors!
Honorable mentions:
Dime City Cycles
Revival Cycles
Speed Dealer Customs
