That looks really good. Wish I could make it fit, but it doesn't look like I will be able to. The frame itself is too close to the fender and the illuminated license plate frame's LED's are along the top of the frame.

You said you removed the plate light, do you have no illumination on your license plate? That will get me stopped all the time here...

Ya , I cut that portion of the plate bracket off . I did not have one of those lamps to put on there , I think they are on the side mount plate bikes only.

The l.e.d. strip is bright enough that there is some plate illumination . It would take a real ******** of a cop to write me up for that .

Something else that I did was to cut a backing plate out of aluminum , the same size as my licence plate , to put between the licence plate and the relocation bracket. I've had problems in the past with licence plates cracking and falling apart. Our plates are huge , it's a **** off but we are stuck with it , they used to be bigger ! Several times I have put a backing plate on to prevent cracking.

Ha. You should meet some of the cops around here. Not all, but there of plenty that would.

Last year I got a $260 fine for a weather tech license plate frame with a clear plastic cover. Local guy from the next town over. Said he was "doing me a favor" writing only one since they were on both plates. What a guy.

So, how did the light strip hook up to the harness? I bought a kit from Harley for my sportster last year and it came with a plug that plugged into the factory harness under the seat. Does this work like that or do you have to fabricate something? There's a ton of sportster kits on eBay right now.

I used the stock connector , I had the correct terminals in my stash of electrical stuff. I clipped the terminals off the new light wiring and crimped on the new pins. Lucky I had those or it would have meant a delay and a trip to the dealership.

That's similar to the kit I bought , I cut those pins off , our bikes have smaller sized deutsch connectors , not the ones pictured in that ebay kit. Also , the kit I bought has adhesive strips , peel off the covering and stick the light to the fender , and it had better be clean.

Here's my "S" before I brought it home , I planned on the removal of the stock stuff right away , as soon as I saw what was on there.

Ok, thanks. Is there a pin / connector kit that I can buy at my dealership or another place? Part #?
