I have yet to do an oil change on mine. But was told if you only get out about a quart, then you just drained the transmission.

Yes the tranny holds about a quart,so if you pulled that plug...congratulations you have succesfully drained your tranny! Hey probably needed to anyhow..the oil plug is a 5/8 with a recessed allen and points out(sideways) you will get 3 1/2 quarts from it,now if you pulled a small allen plug from left side rear you drained your primary....

it thats what happend, don't feel too bad, you wouldn't be the first person to do that.

Check your dipstick, is there still oil? Are you sure it wasn't too low to begin with? Did you take the dipstick out? (there is a vacuum affect tha will hold back the oil)

You have to take the round cover (derby cover) off that's on the side of the primary case. Stand the bke up straight and pour the fluid through the hole. It helps if you have a partner to lean the bike to the right though. When you do this, make sure you have a new gasket for the cover.

If you have an '07 (TC96) it takes 32 ounces (1 quart) in the primary. I did my first service myself yesterday with the help of a friend. It was really easy. My dealer wants $300 plus to do the service. That's just not going to happen. The transmission takes 1 quart and the engine takes about2.5 quarts. I used Syn3 in all three holes. We had a list of all the first servicethings to check like belttension, brake lines, clutch play, tire pessure, ect, ect. The whole process took us about40 min. Most of the checks I listed abovewere just inspections becasue everything was in spec.
