Default Kick Stand Issues

So my kick stand seems...less than great. It's for the most part fine and keeps the bike up, but it doesn't "snap" out when I put it down. So a little push forward on the bike while it's on stand can make the stand move pretty easily toward the up position. Now, it's never fallen or completely snapped back into the up position. It just seems risky. And I'd rather do something about it before I end up dropping the bike while it's just sitting still.

Anyone else have this going on? Are there better kick stand options in the aftermarket world?

Crawl under the bike and check the locking tab on the stand, ramp and notch on the pivot block. Deburr, smooth, & oil as necessary. It's up under there where it picks up a bunch of **** from the road and may just be gunked up.

that so called "snap" feel doesn't make the stand any better. Once the weight is applied to the stand, you have "x" amount of weight on it. That is what is holding the bike in place. That snap doesn't do cr@p. If someone gives your bike a good boot, that snap doesn't do anything, and that snap doesn't make it anymore stronger of a hold. Don't worry, the wind won't blow your bike down. As long as your stand is full extended you're fine.

Default Jiffy Stand Spring

Might want to check the spring that is attached from the frame to the jiffy stand. Sometimes they get worn out or stretched and doesn't hold the stand up next to the frame.
I agree the weight of the bike keeps the stand locked in place when it is extended.

There's nothing wrong with an OEM stand unless you or someone else has somehow damaged the thing or tried to modify it.

I have made it a habit to hold mine forward till weight is on it. Always seems solid then.

There's supposed to be a "snap"?? Mine's never had that and I've never had reason to worry about it. Once 600lbs is leaning on it it's not going anywhere soon.

Take it apart, clean, and lube it with anti-seize.

I crimp the spring eyelet around the frame pintil, then grease it. It works best when it rotates easily.

None of my Dynas have ever had a snap. Works as it should though.
