Gauntlet fairing with flush headlight
#14
I know this is an old thread, but can you provide a few more photos of the 2" bracket that you bought to extend the light? I just installed my gauntlet fairing today and absolutely hate the way the light sits so far back in the fairing. I need to find a solution asap.
Thanks so much!
QUOTE=RustyCage;15023599]I made an extension from some 2" brackets I got at the hardware store. That and a spacer in between where the headlight mounts to the brackets, so you can tighten it down without bending the headlight tabs. Total cost - $5

I recently did this to my headlight with brackets, bolts and nuts I found at lowes for around 8 bucks total. I have the MS Cafe fairing but I'd assume it would work for yours as well. I also have an extended trim around my headlight to make it stick out just that much more.
Here is the brackets I bought. Make sure the bolts will fit through the holes in the bracket you buy. I also bought some thicker bolts to secure it better.
Here is the setup from inside the fairing. I filled the inside of the headlight bracket with washers so I could really wrench down the the bolt securing the headlight without bending the brackets.

Thanks man. That's exactly what I want to do. Do you have a rough idea of how long those brackets are?

Not not by my bike at the moment but if I had to guess probably 2 inches. At the store there are multiple lengths you can chose from but these short ones worked perfect for me.

I would think they are the 2 inch hole to hole size found in home depot/lowes. I used them to make a 2" tank lift and they work great.
For the memphis gauntlet I will eventually make the same type of extender but you can also reverse the brackets that it connects to on the forks and the shield is more flush mount to the headlight without having to get the extender.
Here are a few pics, First is the brackets sprayed black to make the tank lift which in theory will be the same process for the headlight extender and the other pic is the existing memphis shades brackets reversed on the forks so it looks a little more flush.
